Military Service
Darrin W. Gibbons graduated in 1991 from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where he received a bachelor's of science degree in management and a commission as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. While working full-time as a Coast Guard officer, Mr. Gibbons also attended law school in the evenings over a four-year period and received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in 1999. Later that same year, Mr. Gibbons attended U.S. Naval Justice School (NJS) in Newport, Rhode Island, and was certified as a judge advocate in the Armed Forces of the United States. He served as a U.S. Coast Guard judge advocate from 1999-2002 handling a broad spectrum of cases including prosecution and defense of criminal cases, tort claims, and employment claims. Mr. Gibbons received numerous awards for his service including a Coast Guard Commendation Medal and two Coast Guard Achievement Medals.
Civilian Federal Service
Darrin W. Gibbons joined the Department of Defense in 2002 as a civilian attorney. Over a ten year period, he served as an agency representative on hundreds of employment law disputes filed before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, U.S. Office of Special Counsel, Federal Labor Relations Authority and other entities responsible for the adjudication of federal employment law claims. Mr. Gibbons received numerous awards for his service including two "Superior Civilian Service" awards.
Current
In 2012, Darrin W. Gibbons left government service and established a private practice of law.
